Greetings,
Here is my work in progress...forever, begin...
Who knew that back in 1990 when I started searching for information on Grandma and Grandpa because the LDS Center was easily accessible and now in 2012 I would still be researching the threads that make up the roots that have grown many leaves on our family tree. I love the Celtic observation of the tree: "As above, So below."
We have entered the 21st century taking advantage of DNA testing to help narrow the search of endless possibilities. Two Hoyt's came to America from England in the 1600's and were thought to be brothers. DNA has since shown they were not brothers and the lineages are very separate. Many somewhat recent Hoyt relatives settled in the Catskill Mountains of New York. A large number, including 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Great Grandparents, are in the same cemetery in Ulster County, New York. So far I have taken digital pictures of each gravestone and will someday post the results on the GenWeb Tombstone Project for NY.
As with most researchers I have also hit the proverbial "brick wall" with my 4th GGfather Samuel Hoyt (1769 - 1847) and haven't found the connection to John Hoyt of Amesbury, Massachusetts with whom we share DNA.
Much has been written on the Becker's and I have gotten back to the 2nd GGfather Conrad Becker (1836 - 1910) and still the connection to the Dutch Becker's of the 1600's eludes me. Hurricane Irene (2011) devastated Prattsville, NY where I was hoping to join some more dots. Not all was lost and in time as they recover I will continue my research. The Irish search is not an easy one either. The O'Days I can trace back only to a 2nd GGfather Patrick (abt. 1795) and the Leahy's go back to a 3rd GGfather Patrick (abt. 1785). Of note, Saint Mary Of The Mountain is the oldest Catholic Church in the Catskills. Many Irish found their way to the Catskills to work in the booming tanneries, then came the church in 1840 for the faithful. In 1876 my grandmother's mother's brother, Father Simon Canane, was pastor there for 7 years.
And so on, and so on... good luck to us all as we share and embellish our trees and help each other discover.
Many who did research before me got me this far, and I hope with Tribal Pages to keep paying it forward.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
